The concept of zone of proximal development, introduced by Lev Vygotsky and since 1931, is the distance between the actual developmental level of the student (what you can do by itself) and the level of potential development (what we would be able to done with the help of an adult or more capable peer). This concept serves to delimit the range of incidence of the educational activity. I am personally totally agree, as clearly demonstrated in our profession and we apply this theory constantly use
